It is too simple, I know, artist’s block I guess. Let me clarify a few things about my poster; both lines represent an audio waveform and is colored to show that audio actually is colourful, convey lots of meaning. Yada yada.

Stesen berikutnya, Bangsar. Next station, Bangsar.

April 25, 2011

Bangsar, is an affluent residential suburb on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur. It is part of the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency. Bangsar is administered by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) unlike other townships in the Klang Valley such as Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya which have their own municipal councils.

Bangsar is one of Kuala Lumpur’s most popular nighttime entertainment districts. The streets of Bangsar, mainly in Telawi and Maarof, are littered with night clubs, pubs and bistros, making it one party area during the weekends.

Below recording taken from Jalan Bangsar

Taken from LRT station, an elevated station located above Jalan Bangsar.

Content Development #3: user interface design, organization

April 19, 2011

Diagram above is finalized user interface that going to be projected in front. It is minimal as possible to create less distraction to the user as this project subjected to audio. The map consists of 4 different cities from Kuala Lumpur with an identification.

This is basic setup for my project and how the user interface projected. It consists of webcam, projector, speaker and application. Webcam is used to detect motion of different height and sound produced out of detection.

I want nobody, nobody but you (updated)

April 9, 2011

*clap clap*

This, once again, had nothing to do with my project. So, I went to Twin Towers Alive yesterday. Such an awesome event where favorites like Yuna, The Azenders, Bunkface, Wonder Girls and Hoobastank took stage. But I only stayed up to first performer which is Yuna, due to some issues. Real sad, because one of my purpose going there is to watch Wondergirls. Ha-ha. Oh well, maybe next time.

Anyway, I did some recording using an awesome machine, H4 Zoom Recorder, borrowed from Alia Ibrahim. I will post it up later on.

Yuna bagi salam. She is so awesome.

Below is an audio file recorded from KLCC LRT station.

Finalized Proposal

March 30, 2011

A project that uses stair as metaphor which creates different height that is easy to understand by the user. It actually is deal with the sound of the cities around Kuala Lumpur. Each of cities at different height deals vary to one another, each has its unique characteristic.

Problem Identification

Sound itself create unique identity to places, which is not many are aware of. This is due to sight. The idea is to get information from the sound of the city, how it’s differ or relate to one city to another. User can experience urban soundscape from different height of the city, and it is completely audio installation, where visual remains static.

Project Title

this is stairscape

Ideation and Concept

Develop a platform which enable audience to experience, listen to surrounding sound.

To identify soundscape in urban space, how its production to provide characteristic to each of the cities. It is also to define the relationship between the human community and its soundscape.

It is always an interesting subject matter to study, as sound itself create unique identity to objects, in my case, places, which is not many are aware of. A research on sound will give some idea to develop the platform.
